Duplicate or Split

Split one Forecast transaction into smaller amounts, or create an extra transaction to edit.

Split a transaction

  1. In Forecast, tap the transaction you want to split. Open that occurrence, not the repeating plan.
  2. Change Amount to the smaller amount you want to keep in this transaction.
  3. Under Saving Options, turn on Duplicate or Split?, then Save.
  4. The new transaction opens after a short delay. Check its remaining amount, date, and other details, then save your changes.
Example: split a 120 payment into 50 and 70
Before editing
120
Original amount
You save
50
This transaction
App creates
70
Remaining amount

50 + 70 = 120.

The new transaction initially has a date one day later than the date you save on the first transaction. Change it if the remainder belongs on a different date.

This creates another occurrence, not a new repeating plan. To change the recurring schedule instead, see Change a plan schedule.

Create an extra transaction

Open the Forecast transaction, leave its amount unchanged, and turn on Duplicate or Split? before saving.

The new transaction's amount starts at 0 because there is no remaining difference. Enter the amount you want, check its date, and save. Do not assume it has copied the original amount.

Cannot see the option?

It appears when editing an existing Forecast transaction. It is not available in Past, when adding a new transaction, or for transfers and appreciation/depreciation entries.

For an already processed item, see Restore or adjust a transaction.

Looking for a different kind of copy?

Copy a whole plan

Open the existing plan and choose Copy Plan in the toolbar (the overlapping rectangles icon). Adjust the new plan's amount, schedule, and start date before saving. The original plan stays unchanged.

See Create or copy a plan. If this replaces an old schedule, end the old plan before the new one starts to avoid overlapping payments.

Try changes on COPY Data

COPY is a separate copy of your LIVE data for testing, not a copied transaction or plan. Changes there do not affect LIVE and cannot be merged back.

See DEMO, LIVE, and COPY Data before testing a split or a new schedule.
